God the ultimate parent
The previous posts on the impassibility and immutability of God lead to the next obvious question: How does God exercise power in the world in relation to humanity?
Before attempting to answer this question i want to examine a few other things in regards to immutability and impassibility in the God-humanity relationship.
If humanity was truly made in the image of our creator and we accept that God is impassible and immutable what does that say of us as a species?
Humanity has made a mess of the world we live in, of that there is no doubt. If God is unchanging and uncaring, humanity as a reflection and image of the divine must also be unchanging and uncaring, ergo the state of sin and depravity the world is in, is the logical progression from an unchanging uncaring God and his sentient creation.
Why should we care or be responsive to those in need if the God we worship is not? If God is immutable and impassible this also makes a lie of the majority of scripture. Simply we cant have it both ways, either the bible or the doctrines are correct. If the bible is truly the inspired word of God then it must be true, meaning that these doctrines are untrue, that man has perpetuated a fallacy and lie regarding the nature of God. Adherence to these doctrines makes God less, and by default makes humanity far less than what God intended us to be, and reinforces the belief that God is powerless to intervene in creation.
